
Located in Southwestern Oregon, Douglas County is part of the Hundred Valleys of the Umpqua Douglas County covers 5,071 square miles. It spans the Hundred Valleys of the Umpqua from the Cascade Mountains to the Pacific Ocean.
Our largest industry is timber. An estimated 25% of our labor force is employed in timber related jobs. The second largest industry in Douglas County is agriculture. We have orchards, field crops, and livestock.
The elevation ranges from see level to 9,182 feet above sea level. Our highest point is Mt. Thielsen. Fifty percent of the land in Douglas County is owned by the Federal Government. It is managed by the US Forest Service and Bureau of Land Management (BLM). There are over 50 parks, including everything from boat launches to overnight camping facilities.
There are numerous lakes, rivers, and the ocean to enjoy fishing, crabbing, boating, rafting, or swimming. You can hike or bike on wilderness mountain trails or spend the day picnicking. In the winter you can enjoy riding snowmobiles, skiing, or just relaxing in the lodge at either Diamond Lake or Crater Lake.
Douglas County is also home to Seven Feathers Casino, numerous award-winning wineries, awesome waterfalls, beautiful scenery and if you like critters we have the Wildlife Safari, which is a wild animal park..
We have 12 incorporated cities: Canyonville, Drain, Elkton, Glendale, Myrtle Creek, Oakland, Reedsport, Riddle, Roseburg, Sutherlin, Winston and Yoncalla.
